Frequently Asked Questions
Q1:Are all students who enrol in this course guaranteed to receive CEF funding? Answer: No.
The Continuing Education Fund (CEF) is administered and approved by the Government.
Students must complete the entire course and meet the required attendance and assessment criteria before submitting their own CEF application to the CEF Office.
Final approval is subject to the applicant’s individual eligibility and whether all submitted documents comply with government requirements.
Q2: How is the course fee calculated? Answer:
The full course fee must be paid by the student upfront.
After successfully completing the course and meeting the attendance and assessment requirements, students may submit their own application to the Continuing Education Fund (CEF) Office.
CEF subsidies will be disbursed only after the application has been reviewed and approved. You may use the CEF Subsidy Calculator below to enter your available CEF balance and instantly estimate the subsidy amount applicable to this course, as well as your estimated out-of-pocket payment.
(Maximum cumulative subsidy amount: HK$25,000)
Q3:What should I do if I am unsure about my remaining CEF balance?
Answer:
If you are unsure of your remaining Continuing Education Fund (CEF) balance, you may log in to your personal CEF online account to check your balance, or contact the CEF Office directly for enquiry.
Q4:Does enrolling in the course mean my CEF application has already been approved? Answer: No Enrolment in the course does not mean that CEF funding has been approved.
Students must complete the entire course and meet the required attendance and assessment criteria before submitting their own application to the CEF Office.
Funding will only be granted upon approval by the Government.
Q5: If my CEF application is rejected, will the course fee be refunded? Answer: No The Continuing Education Fund (CEF) is a government subsidy scheme.
The application and approval outcome are determined solely by the Government and are independent of the course enrolment, class arrangement, and tuition fee collection.
If a student’s CEF application is not approved, the course fee already paid will not be refunded or compensated.
Q6:Can I apply for CEF first and then decide whether to enrol in the course? Answer: No The Continuing Education Fund (CEF) only accepts applications after a student has completed the entire course.
No advance application, reservation, or pre-approval arrangement is available before course completion.
Q7: If I only learn about CEF after the course has started, can I still apply? Answer: Subject to individual circumstances. Students must meet the CEF requirements regarding the valid study period, minimum attendance rate, and assessment criteria in order to submit an application.
Eligibility for application is subject to the final approval decision of the CEF Office.
Q8:Do I need to complete any CEF forms before the course starts? Answer: Yes.
According to CEF requirements, all students enrolling in a CEF-recognised course are required to sign the “Participant’s Declaration and Consent for Enrolment in Fund Course” before the course commences.
This declaration confirms the student’s consent to the disclosure of personal data to relevant government departments for CEF application and assessment purposes. Please note:
The above declaration is for data disclosure and confirmation purposes only and is not a CEF reimbursement application form.
The formal CEF application must be submitted by the student to the CEF Office after completing the course and meeting all required criteria.
Q9:Will missing classes affect my CEF application? Answer: Yes The Continuing Education Fund (CEF) has clear requirements regarding course attendance and assessment.
If a student fails to meet the required attendance rate or assessment criteria, they will not be eligible to submit a CEF application.
For details of our school’s attendance and assessment requirements, please refer to Q10.
Q10:What are the school’s attendance and assessment requirements?
Answer: To meet the eligibility requirements for CEF application, the school has established minimum standards for course attendance and assessment.
Students must achieve:
- a minimum attendance rate of no less than 80%, and
- completion of all required assessment components, with an overall assessment result of at least 65%,
in order to be issued a course completion certificate and the relevant documents required for CEF application.
Students who fail to meet the above attendance or assessment requirements will not be eligible to submit a CEF application.
Q11:Will the school submit the CEF application on my behalf? Answer: No CEF applications must be submitted by the student personally to the Government.
In accordance with CEF requirements, the school is required to confirm the student’s course participation and completion details in the system.
Such confirmation is for verification purposes only and does not constitute submitting or processing the application on the student’s behalf.
Q12:What documents will the school provide?
Answer: Upon completion of the entire course and fulfilment of the school’s attendance and assessment requirements, the school will, in accordance with Continuing Education Fund (CEF) regulations, provide eligible students with the following documents for submission with their own CEF application:
- Course attendance / completion certificate
- Proof of payment (official receipt)
- Other relevant documents as required by CEF (if applicable)
