Meet Our Yoga Teachers

Yoga Refine has a team of 12 professional yoga teachers. Most are trained by HKYA Hong Kong Yoga Academy — growing from students to professional teachers, and some even returning to teach on the RYT-200 training course.

Our teaching team were trained by Hong Kong Yoga Academy (HKYA) — from beginner, to RYT-200 graduate, then continuing to RYT-300 and RYT-500, and finally becoming professional teachers at Yoga Refine. The HKYA Alumni label shows that the teacher trained with our academy.

As the founder and course director of Yoga Refine and Hong Kong Yoga Academy, Janet has long been committed to making yoga more accessible and more widely understood. Since founding Yoga For All Consultancy Limited in Hong Kong in 2009, the courses she has designed and led have trained over a thousand yoga teachers. She continues to bring in new teaching methods and philosophy to improve the quality and effectiveness of yoga education.

She places special focus on teacher development, encouraging ongoing learning and innovation in teaching. She believes every teacher’s growth can deepen the student experience and help spread the positive impact of yoga into the wider community.

Her long-term vision is to create a supportive yoga community where everyone can find their own place on the yoga path.

Karen has more than 20 years of teaching experience. Over these years, she has studied with many world-known yoga teachers, including Paul Grilley, Ana T. Forrest, Alexander Medin, and Bikram Choudhury.

Since 2005, Karen has travelled to India regularly for practice. She became a student of Guruji Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois. After seven years of steady dedication, she received recognition from her teacher and became one of the few teachers in Hong Kong with Ashtanga certification.

Besides traditional yoga teaching, Karen also studies the link between yoga and exercise science, helping students find a better balance between safety and effectiveness in practice.

Boey first came to yoga because of long-term insomnia. Over time, she fell in love with yoga and deeply felt the physical, mental, and emotional changes it brought to her life. That change inspired her to become a yoga teacher and share the benefits of yoga with more people.

She is good at connecting with students in class and planting yoga values in a clear and supportive way. She continues exploring different possibilities in yoga, using the experience she gained as an assistant teacher to develop classes that suit different student needs.

As an RYT-200 teacher training instructor, she now passes on her full growth journey to trainee teachers, showing through personal experience that the path from beginner to professional teacher is real and possible.

Thomas started yoga in 2016 to improve back pain. With more than ten years of experience in music education, team building, and youth work, his classes focus strongly on communication and connection. Bella has long been interested in astrology, spiritual work, and inner exploration, and is also an experienced tarot reader. She first came to yoga because of body pain. Yoga not only helped relieve her discomfort, but also helped her find inner calm through meditation. She brings a supportive and healing space to students through both her yoga journey and her spiritual background.

Pergee started yoga to relieve work stress and gradually found inner calm and self-healing through practice. She has trained in stretching therapy, singing bowl sound healing, mindfulness facilitation, and yoga teaching. Her teaching style focuses on body awareness and movement awareness, blending anatomy knowledge with mindfulness practice.

Miriam trained in ballet from a young age and first met yoga through stage performance. She became interested in breathwork, movement, and postures, and was deeply drawn to yoga’s calm and non-forcing spirit. Yoga became a mental refuge for her during the stress of work and life. She hopes to share the movement skills and self-care knowledge she has learned on her own practice path.

Raymond has always loved sports and physical health, and is also an experienced boxing and swimming instructor. He understands the importance of discipline, strength, and endurance in physical training. After discovering yoga, his path changed, and he chose to become a yoga teacher. He combines sports knowledge with yoga’s more complete approach, helping students build strength, improve flexibility, and connect body and mind.
