Course Content
Part 1. Yoga Philosophy (28 hours)
This module introduces students to the origins and history of yoga, building a solid philosophical foundation through the study of the Yoga Sutras and the Eight Limbs of Yoga (Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi). Students explore how these principles apply not only to physical practice, but also to daily life.
Through the study of classical texts such as the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Yoga Sutras, combined with discussion and reflection, students gain a deeper understanding of the purpose of yoga practice and develop a grounded, mindful approach to asana. This module cultivates focus, inner calm, ethical awareness, and the qualities needed to grow as both a dedicated practitioner and a thoughtful yoga teacher.
|
Part 2. Yoga Anatomy (28 hours)
This module teaches anatomy specifically for yoga practice, helping students understand the functional principles behind each asana. Students learn how to practise and teach safely, prevent injury, and adapt poses to different body structures.
Emphasis is placed on intelligent alignment, movement analysis, and understanding muscle function, enabling teachers to guide students effectively—especially in more advanced postures.
|
Part 3. Teaching Skills & Class Sequencing (35 hours)
This module develops essential teaching skills through in-depth asana study, clear alignment principles, and effective class sequencing. Students learn how to structure classes for safe, efficient, and balanced practice, using concise verbal cues and appropriate teaching tone to create a supportive learning environment.
Emphasis is placed on intelligent sequencing that supports the body, breath, energy flow, and mental focus, enabling teachers to design classes that are both physically effective and mentally calming.
|
Part 4. Integrated Practice & Applied Learning (64 hours)
This module focuses on regular, structured practice, with asana sessions held three times per week to help students build consistency, discipline, and embodied awareness. The emphasis is not on pose difficulty, but on presence, focus, and mindful engagement in practice.
Ongoing physical practice is integrated with weekly theory studies, allowing students to immediately apply yoga philosophy, anatomy, and teaching skills. This approach strengthens physical capacity, confidence, and teaching readiness, and prepares students for teaching practice and practical assessments.
|
Part 5. Teaching Practicum & Mentorship (45 hours)
This module guides students progressively from understanding teaching principles to real-world application. Through class design, verbal cueing, observation, and hands-on teaching practice, students build confidence, communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively in live class settings. Ongoing feedback and individual guidance support steady improvement.
Mentorship sessions run weekly throughout the programme, providing a structured space for practice, discussion, and clarification. Students review course content, address learning questions, and receive timely instructor support, ensuring continuous development and thorough preparation for independent teaching.
