Since its establishment in 2015, the Hong Kong Yoga Academy has become a leading provider of yoga teacher training, offering RYT-200, RYT-300, RPYT-85 Prenatal Yoga, Aerial Yoga, Yin Yoga, Ashtanga, and more. We have successfully completed over 45 RYT-200 courses, with a mission to deliver high-quality yoga education and prepare students for meaningful teaching careers.

Our faculty includes instructors with over 20 years of experience, among them one of Hong Kong’s few globally certified teachers from the Ashtanga Yoga Institute. With extensive training in India, expertise in prenatal and aerial yoga, and mentorship under Paul Grilley, she brings exceptional depth and guidance to our students.

As a Yoga Alliance–certified school, we go beyond training by supporting graduates’ career development. We prioritize alumni for teaching and substitute opportunities, corporate training, and community programs. Graduates enjoy three months of free studio rental, access to a teaching community, and help building a professional online presence. For those opening studios, we provide promotional support, social media exposure, and access to our booking system. Many alumni have since launched their own successful studios, a testament to our strong graduate network and full-circle support.

Part 1. Yoga Philosophy 28 hours

Yoga Alliance–certified teacher training builds a strong foundation to teach, inspire, and deepen your own practice. This course introduces the origins and history of yoga, the Yoga Sutra, the 8 limbs of yoga, and how to apply philosophy in modern practice and teaching. Students will also explore other key texts, uncovering the true meaning of practicing and teaching yoga with depth and authenticity.

The training helps you find your voice, build confidence, and develop the skills to guide and inspire others. It is ideal both for students ready to begin teaching and for those wishing to deepen their personal practice. Graduates will leave with a solid grounding in yoga philosophy and practice, becoming Yoga Alliance–registered teachers prepared to share yoga with clarity and passion.

Part 2. Yoga Anatomy 28 hours

The course is designed to avoid long-winded anatomical terms and learn relevant knowledge based on yoga practice so that students can practise yoga from a scientific point of view and avoid injuries. Each person's body structure is different, your posture and the usual habit of sitting and walking posture will affect your muscles and bones differently, so not a standard or method can be suitable for everyone to practise in the same yoga class. It is very dangerous to practise yoga by using simply imitation or blind practice. You should have sufficient analytical skills and physical function when you teach or practise in advanced yoga classes as a professional yoga teacher. Learn to practise correctly and effectively to help yourself and others to avoid injuries.

Part 3. Teaching Skills & Sequencing 35 hours

In this module, students deepen their study of asanas by learning precise alignment and the correct form of each posture. They also explore how to design logical, safe, and effective class sequences, including the use of clear cueing, appropriate tone, and different class formats.

A well-structured sequence benefits not only the body—strengthening muscles, bones, and joints—but also influences breath, circulation, emotions, and energy. Through this process, practitioners cultivate focus, calmness, and joy, which form the essence of yoga practice.

By mastering simple yet scientific sequencing methods, students gain the tools to create classes that are both effective and enjoyable. This knowledge allows them to practice and teach with greater clarity and confidence, making their yoga journey and teaching more efficient and impactful.

Part 4. Integrated Practice and Theoretical Application (64 hours)

In this module, students deepen their study of asanas by learning precise alignment and the correct form of each posture. They also explore how to design logical, safe, and effective class sequences, including the use of clear cueing, appropriate tone, and different class formats.

Part 5. Teaching Practicum + Tutorials (45 hours)

This module bridges theory and practice, guiding students step by step from understanding teaching principles to applying them in real classes. Core areas include class sequencing, cueing, observation, and adjustment skills. Through regular practice and live class observation, students gain hands-on experience, while instructors provide feedback and individual guidance to strengthen teaching confidence and classroom management. Weekly tutorial sessions run throughout the course, giving students a space to review and consolidate learning, clarify questions, and practice with peers. These tutorials ensure timely support, deepen understanding, and foster steady progress, preparing students to design and lead classes with clarity and confidence.
