AYURVEDA DOSHA QUIZ RESULT · HONG KONG Ayurveda Dosha Quiz ResultUnderstanding the Three Doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha Ancient Indian wisdom for restoring balance through diet, yoga and lifestyle Author: ForAllYoga Team · Prepared by Hong Kong Yoga Academy
Last updated: April 2026 “In Ayurveda, the most important goal is to bring the doshas into balance What Are the Three Ayurvedic Body Types (Three Doshas)?Your highest score represents your primary dosha, the second highest score represents your secondary dosha, and the third score represents your third dosha. Most people have a mixed constitution, with the three doshas appearing in different proportions. Once you understand your current body type, you can begin adjusting your diet, movement and daily habits to support physical, mental and emotional balance. Ayurveda is based on the natural five elements — Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Space/Ether. These elements exist not only in nature, but also within the human body. They combine to form the three doshas (Three Doshas):
After understanding your body type, we recommend combining your practice with Pranayama breathing techniques and suitable yoga styles for the best result. Three Doshas OverviewVata · Air + Space
Vata is made of Air and Space/Ether. It represents movement, circulation and nervous system activity in the body. Vata carries dry, light, cold, rough and mobile qualities, and is commonly associated with the small intestine, colon, bones, pelvic region, navel, heart and head. 1. Vata Characteristics
2. Balanced Vata
3. Signs of Vata ImbalanceThis is mainly related to “depletion and instability.”
4. How to Balance Vata: Build Stability and RoutineDiet: Choose warm, cooked and nourishing foods. Add suitable oils and moistening foods. Avoid excessive raw, cold or stimulating drinks. Yoga: Choose slow-paced and grounding practices. Recommended options include Yin Yoga and Slow Flow, combined with nervous-system-soothing Pranayama breathing techniques Lifestyle: Build a steady routine, reduce multitasking and strengthen your sense of grounding. Pitta · Fire + Water
Pitta is made of Fire and Water. It represents the body’s transformation functions, including digestion, metabolism and nutrient absorption. Pitta carries hot, sharp, oily and fluid qualities, and is commonly associated with the stomach, small intestine, blood, liver, gallbladder and spleen. 1. Pitta Characteristics
2. Balanced Pitta
3. Signs of Pitta ImbalanceThis is mainly related to “overheating and overexertion.”
4. How to Balance Pitta: Cool Down and Release ControlDiet: Choose cooling and water-rich foods. Reduce spicy food, fried food and alcohol. Stay well hydrated. Pitta types also benefit from healthy sweating to regulate internal heat. Yoga: Avoid overly competitive or high-intensity practice. Forward folds, twists and relaxing poses are recommended. You may use Yin Yoga to release pressure, and include cooling Pranayama breathing techniques (Cooling Pranayama). You may also refer to yoga styles to choose a moderate practice style. Lifestyle: Maintain balance between work and rest. Reduce over-scheduling and accumulated pressure. Develop acceptance and the ability to relax. Kapha · Earth + Water
Kapha is made of Earth and Water. It represents the body’s structure functions, including bone density, fat regulation, strength and endurance. Kapha carries heavy, slow, cold, oily and soft qualities, and is commonly associated with the lungs, stomach, pancreas, plasma, lymphatic system, joints, sinuses, nose and tongue. 1. Kapha Characteristics
2. Balanced Kapha
3. Signs of Kapha ImbalanceThis is mainly related to “stagnation and accumulation.”
4. How to Balance Kapha: Increase Movement and VitalityDiet: Choose light, warm and mildly stimulating foods. Reduce sweets, greasy foods and dairy. Control portion size and avoid overeating. Yoga: Dynamic flow and strength-building practices are recommended. You may choose 14-Hour Ashtanga Training Course to build a steady dynamic practice, or use 14-Hour Yoga Wheel Training Course to open the body. You may also consider 100-Hour Aerial Yoga Course and use inversion-based practice to improve circulation. Can my Ayurvedic body type change over time?Yes。Everyone has an original constitution (Prakriti), but your current condition may shift with season, age, stress, diet and lifestyle and appear as a present imbalance or tendency (Vikriti). We recommend retaking the quiz each season and adjusting your diet and practice accordingly. Q2. Why are my scores for several doshas very close? This is very normal. Most people are mixed or dual-dosha types such as Vata-Pitta, Pitta-Kapha or Vata-Kapha. Some people may be tri-dosha with all three scores close together. The key is to observe which dosha is currently more likely to become imbalanced and make suitable adjustments. Q3. What is the difference between Ayurvedic doshas and Traditional Chinese Medicine body types? Both are traditional systems for understanding constitution, but their frameworks are different。Ayurveda is based on the five elements and classifies body types into Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on Qi, blood, Yin and Yang and includes types such as balanced, Qi deficiency, Yang deficiency, Yin deficiency and phlegm-dampness. The two systems may be used for reference, but their diagnostic standards should not be mixed. Q4. After knowing my dosha, what should I actually adjust? We recommend starting from three areas:1) Diet — choose suitable food temperature, flavour and portion size according to your dosha; 2) Yoga practice — Vata and Pitta are more suitable for gentle practices such as Yin Yoga while Kapha benefits from more dynamic practices such as Ashtanga; 3) Lifestyle — adjust daily routine, activity level and social rhythm. Start with one small change and build gradually. Q5. Can a dosha quiz replace medical diagnosis? No。An Ayurvedic dosha quiz is a traditional wellness and lifestyle guide. It does not replace professional medical diagnosis. If you have any health concerns, chronic conditions, are pregnant or are taking medication, please consult a doctor first. Q6. Where can I start if I want to study Ayurveda more deeply? You may join ForAllYoga’s RYT-200 Yoga Teacher Trainingwhich covers Ayurvedic theory, asana, philosophy and meridian systems.
